What a lovely way to celebrate getting older! I turned fifty a few months ago and I am not ashamed or embarrassed to tell anyone my age.
Why not enjoy getting older? We all age unless we are dead. So aging seems like a pretty good deal!
I love how you embrace your body and love it. No matter what it’s size. Good for you!
I relate to everything in your article. Getting divorced now from a much older man who expected me to look and dress a ”certain” way. Not that he would admit it. But he’d never buy me any clothes that weren’t revealing. And I had to keep my hair long and blonde to get any appreciation. So hmmm.
Now that he’s gone, I’ve relaxed. And I’d much rather be ’fat and happy’ than skinny and stressed! I’ve gained some weight this last year being separated. Emotional eating too. But I love my body now too. I used to worry more about my looks. Now I’m fifty and single. And I look damn good, despite being 15 lbs heavier than when I was married, and I don’t need not want any appreciation other than my own.
